Foundation Course

The Year 4 Foundations Course is designed to build confidence and strengthen the core literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for success in the 11+.

My Maths and English content works hand‑in‑hand with what your child is learning in school, helping them reinforce key skills, fill any gaps, and make faster progress. This means the course is valuable even if you decide not to move on to the Year 5 Preparation Course. I will also gently introduce some of the key concepts of Non Verbal Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning but the majority of the focus is Maths and English.

GOOD TO KNOW

Lessons begin in September of Year 4 and run weekly for 50 minutes. Each week, your child will also receive a short homework task to consolidate what we’ve covered. I keep my group sizes very small - a maximum of four children so your child benefits from individual attention and a personalised approach.

What to expect:

Weekly 60‑minute lesson in a friendly, supportive small‑group setting.

Focus areas: comprehension, vocabulary, punctuation, and Maths with small NVR and VR introductions.

Homework: around 30 minutes each week, with answers provided so parents can easily check work.

Regular feedback so you know exactly how your child is progressing and how you can support them at home.
